Considering the transfer offers in 1998, Hasan Şaş signed with Galatasaray whose form he has been wearing for 10 years. Especially in his second season, he was very successful and he was one of the stars of the team that attended the UEFA Cup. His most remarkable period with the national jersey, which was worn by him for 72 times, was 2002. In the World Cup organised by Japan and South Korea, scoring an incredible goal against Brazil which is full of football stars, Şaş not only contributed to his team’s 3rd position in the World Cup, but also impressed the football authorities.

He was selected the 6th best player of the World Cup and 11th best player of Europe (the latter by France Football). His name became very popular in the transfer market.
