Born in Germany, Hakan Balta was started football in Hertha Berlin where he was born and grown up.

At the age 20, he made a radical decision and accepting an offer, returned to his homeland. In Vestel Manisaspor’s ambitious team created for Super League, he was one of the indispensable players. In four seasons he appeared in 128 matches and scored 22 goals.

Increasing his performance to the A National Team, Hakan Balta signed with Galatasaray for 2007-2008 season at the very last day of transfer. Having the ability to play both in the defense section and left midfield, Hakan scored his first goal with Galatasaray jersey in the Beşiktaş match previous season. He was a part of the National Team in Euro 2008.
