Started his carreer at the age of 11, in Bakırköyspor academy. He attracted Super Lig teams’ attention in 17.

His first transfer was to Ankaragücü. After one and a half season there, he played for Türk Telekom as a loan. He spent one and a half season in the 2nd League Category A, went back to Ankaragücü and played for them in the Turkcell Super League for four more years.

Being the team captain in Ankaragücü during the last two years, Emre Güngör played for the U21 National Team 22 times. He joined Galatasaray in the 2007-2008 mid-season. Having found a place in the first team squad during Rigobert Song’s leave for African Cup, Emre quickly got accustomed with Galatasaray defense. He is married with a son, born in December 2007.
