Review
Well, personally I prefer sony because of it's manual controls. Canon's one-joystick-control just takes too much time (not mentioning that I'm a left-hander). I had both sony hc9 and canon hv20 (that is very similar to hv30) in my hand and I can say that it depends whether you want HD progressive filming but with difficult manual controls, or a good HD video camera with pretty good manual controls and touch screen that gets dirty fast. Nowadays you can't find a very good camera for this price, because now consumer cameras are very similar than they used to be
