I've had a chequing and savings account with CIBC for years, last month suddenly my transfers FROM savings to chequing (which used to be free) now cost $1.50 each.
I also requested a transfer from my TFSA last Sunday, website says a maximum of 5 business days to accomodate this, money was removed on this Sunday but still not in my regular account, finally there at end of business day 6.
Got laid off 6 weeks ago, have student loan, still waiting to hear on repayment options (sent forms in a month ago)
CIBC used to be a great bank but they have gone downhill in the last few years.

A broker took me to CIBC for a line of credit....The location 930 North Park drive Brampton, ON. I was surprised to find that two gentleman Inder Preet sidana and Tony Brar demanded $7000 for $25000 line of credit...I later found out these guys are running a business of their own on mortgage, Line of Credit and Credit cards. Some one should look into this or CIBC will loose all the remaining credibility it has.

CIBC totally drained my fiance's bank account to bring the payments on his 2 cards up to date even though he made a payment of close to $700 on them at the beginning of the month. We now have no money until the first of the month and our mortgage and car payments are going to bounce, something that's never happened before. When he called them, they were unfriendly and not helpful. Only when we pleaded for help did they tell us they'd have a manager call tomorrow, but even then nothing would probably be done.
My fiance and I are in economic hard times right now, but still pride ourselves in paying what we can on time. Not to mention, he's been a customer with CIBC for 15 years and had a major cancer scare with 2 stays in the hospital this year alone.

STAY AWAY FROM CIBC and especially their credit cards!! What they did should be illegal!

Don't bother trying to get a mortgage with CIBC. They'll put you through the ringer, waste your time with appraisals, calls to employers etc. Doesn't matter if you have been with them for 25 years, have a super credit rating and want to borrow a small amount with a 100,000+ a year salary. They have nothing better to do than waste people's time. Avoid them if you can.

This is the worst bank I have ever had. Interest rates are poor (compared to nz where i'm from), service fees seem to rise all the time, its really hard to find a branch and they just don't care!

If you travel a lot, definitely do not join this bank. They have no branches in USA (that I saw), mexico or central america (HSBC and Scotiabank have quite a few) and not very many in Canada!

Their poor service cost me almost $1000 now. I was travelling in mexico and forgot my PIN 3 times so the ATM sucked up my card. The bank took 6 WEEKS to get a new one sent to me, they refused to send it by courier even if i paid. My friend lost her card and her New Zealand bank got a new one to her in 3 days! So if i hadn't had a relative to post me money, I would have been selling my organs in mexico to get by. That's how much they care! Now, exchange rates between canada and NZ have changed so with this and all the additional fees, the whole deal has cost me almost $1000, and made things very difficult at times.

Please, if you're considering joining CIBC... don't.

OMG this is the worst bank ever I have dealt with. The customer service is just horrible believe me. I called once to complain about an employee who was shouting on my face, and customer service told me "sorry sir we can't do anything because he is our employee. So, I talked to their suopervisor and he said the same thing. They deal with special company called ALLIANCEONE which is the most stupid and horrible people ever. There are many banks worth your money than CIBC. Goodluck people

there are barely any CIBC's anywhere anymore on my side of town, I went in today and the teller was pretty rude...I don't know sumtimes its okay but sumtimes its not.
